Tasty Carrot Halwa Recipe | How to Make Carrot Halwa 2023
Carrot halwa, also known as gajar ka halwa, is a popular Indian dessert made with grated carrots, milk, sugar, and ghee. Here's a recipe to make carrot halwa:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb carrots, peeled and grated
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup ghee
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (such as almonds, pistachios, or cashews)
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
Instructions:
- Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan on medium heat. Add the grated carrots and sauté for 5-7 minutes until the raw smell goes away.
- Add milk to the pan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and let the milk simmer until it thickens and the carrots are cooked, stirring occasionally.
- Add sugar to the pan and stir until the sugar dissolves. Continue to simmer on low heat until the mixture thickens to a halwa consistency and the milk has evaporated, stirring occasionally.
- Add cardamom powder and chopped nuts and mix well.
- Serve the carrot halwa warm or cold.
Note: You can adjust the amount of sugar based on your preference for sweetness. You can also add a pinch of saffron for flavor and color.
